**These pages are made only for our farm usage to go and remind ourselves what we need to do.
We have collected those files over the years.
We are always learning new information. We add and edit these files almost daily.
There are many more problems with goat keeping. These are most common illnesses and problems that we often see while our goat keeping. If in doubt, call your vet.

These are the examples that we do at our farm for prevention right now.
We are always trying new ideas and better ideas if it works for our climate.

These parasites move up 2~3 inches in water film or dew. This is the reasons why we do not let our goats to pasture until mid-day.
We make sure that all the dews are dried up before our goats go to graze in the pasture.
Above all the preventative things that we do as I posted below, this is also the key factor that we see a huge difference in our herd now.

Another thing that we found was "tannin" is the another key factor.
Over dose tannin is toxic to goats but having good amount of tannin in the goat's body make the parasites to be not comfortable to stay in goat's body. In order to create this condition, we started feeding Sainfoin hay which has tannin.
You could also give pine needles, pine needle tea, black tea, & Chicory hay.

Livamol/BioWorma
(for preventative)
We use BioWorma in order to stop spreading on going bloodsucking parasites from our land. Fungus will kill parasites in the feces that goats drops everyday. This is not effective towards coccidia.

Herbal Dosage Balls For Livestock By Molly Mix together:
Add:
With a spatula (or food processor), mix and kneed into 2 doughs. Break into 16 even pieces from the each dough, shape into balls and then roll the balls in a little bit of Slippery Elm powder just to coat. Each ball = 1/2 TableSpoon dose. Offer an herbal dosage ball to the animal first, and he may eat it right out of your hand. If he won't, shove it in his mouth. Often, the animal realizes the balls taste good and want more. If he spits it out, just shove further back in the mouth next time. (For goat kids, or other smaller animals, I break the balls into smaller pieces to administer.) |
