Anemia Treatment & Trio
Instead of 'Red Cell", "Injectable iron" is safer for their rumen to use and faster to see the result according to the users.
"I highly recommend injectable iron instead of red cell. Give every other day for a week if they are super anemic and pair with crushed vitamin C mixed in water and given orally.
Then once a week after that. It helps absorb the iron. I really like Valbazen (if not pregnant) and Cydectin together. I also give copper. I treat for coccidia at the same time if animal is bad because if their system is compromised and you are treating for barber pole, coccidia can come in and take over. If animal is not eating as much as usual, dose with 1cc thiamine to keep ruman going."
" The red cell is hard on the rumen so if they are already boardline off feed, it will send them downhill from my experience. I just have a had better luck with injectable iron with vitamin C. I have recently added in the vitamin C and see a faster bounce back and they seem to get color faster. I picked a does head up out of the dirt and I thought for sure I should euthanize, gave it till morning and she was up eating. Everyone can do what is best for them but I will go injectable iron every time. I was worried about issues with the iron. I had one act a little off and gave her benadryl. She was up and doing perfect in 30 hours. This is my experience and everyone has something that works for them and that is okay. I just know this year, I have saved 3 girls who most folks would have put down or who would have died."
